Call for Submissions Fall 2025: A Walk in the Woods

There’s just something about hiking in the forest that makes me think of fall. Doesn’t matter the time of year, either. Something about the smell of wet soil, dried leaves, and fresh air brings me to fall even during the hottest part of summer. So naturally, when coming up with a theme for the Fall 2025 issue, I had to go with A Walk in the Woods.

For this issue, we’re looking for all kinds of projects inspired by the forest and the things found within. Examples might include a set of towels reminiscent of moss and lichen, a runner woven with the colors of fall foliage, or an inkle band patterns from your favorite butterflies or beetles.

We’ll also be looking for projects inspired by time spent in the woods whether hiking, camping, or staying in a cabin or cottage. This might mean a set of napkins designed for your kitchen or a blanket for nights by the fire. We'd also love to see items you’d take on a hike such as a warm hat, snuggly shawl, or a picnic set. In general for this issue, think cozy and cottagecore.

Please note, projects that use discontinued yarns will not be accepted. Hand-dyed yarns will be allowed as long as either the yarn is available for sale or instructions are given in the project for dyeing the yarn.

Also note that we base our project selections for each issue on contributor photographs. Please include a photo or photos of the finished item or of items you’ve woven that are most similar to the item you propose to weave for the issue. We will review the proposals and ask for additional photographs if needed. After the project-selection meeting, we will contact everyone whose project is accepted and ask that it be submitted along with the project paperwork.
