Call for Submissions for Little Looms Holiday 2021!

By customer request, Little Looms Holiday 2021 will be released earlier in the year, in order to give readers plenty of time to make the projects in time for the holiday season. We will release Little Looms Holiday 2021 in late September.

So there’s no time to waste! For all of you weaver/designers out there, now is the time to start planning a great project for the issue. Perhaps you’re working on a great idea for the upcoming holidays that you want to share with us? We’d love to see it!

To get you in the holiday-project spirit, here are the themes for Little Looms Holiday 2021:

Gifts for Everyone on Your List: Dream up the perfect present to make a special someone in your life happy—whether it’s your partner, your child, your dog (kinda people!), or the lady next door. It can be a little stocking-stuffer or an heirloom in the making, so long as it’s designed to please.

Comfy at Home: Weave something to brighten up the kitchen or bathroom, linens that make the holiday table special, and blankets, rugs, and throws that keep the cold away or are fun to snuggle with. When the winter chases you indoors, weave yourself comfortable.

Dress and Decorate: This is the place for projects that express your love for a specific holiday, be it Hannukah, New Year’s Eve, Christmas, Kwanzaa, Diwali, or in my case, Thanksgiving.

Little Looms focuses on projects made using small looms, including rigid-heddle, pin, inkle, and tapestry looms. Projects can be made using one type of loom or a combination of different types of weaving.

Please use our submission form for Little Looms Holiday 2021 to send us your proposals for projects and articles by 12/14/2020. Submission guidelines can be found here, and the palette for the issue can be downloaded here.

Please note that we have changed our proposal/submission process. We now choose projects based on photographs of finished projects. If you have your project in hand, Include photographs of it with your proposal. If your project isn’t complete when you make your proposal, please send photographs of the completed project by 2/15/2021 to Handwoven@longthreadmedia.com using the subject line: "Little Looms Holiday 2021 Photos."

Here are the photos we will be looking for to help us make our choices:

1. A photo of the entire piece
2. A detail photo or photos showing the weaving and construction
3. A finishing photo if your project has fringe or hems.

If your project is chosen then we will ask you to submit the project by 3/22/2021 and the project paperwork by 3/29/2021.
