Weaving with Rags on the Rigid-Heddle Loom

If you have admired rag rugs and wished you could make one on your rigid-heddle loom but thought it just wasn’t possible, let me tell you: You can! Not only that, but the techniques you use to weave rag rugs can be used on other rigid-heddle projects as well. In addition to being good projects for learning a new way of making fabric, rag-weaving projects will add variety to your weaving and give you a way to recycle some of your favorite fabrics.

You just need to know a few tips and tricks to make the rigid-heddle loom work well for rag weaving. Adding a few new tools, making the right warp and weft choices, properly preparing both the rags and the loom, sampling (of course), and learning how to weave with rags as weft will help your project be a success.
